how to choose a basketball

Many of my friends enjoy sports, especially basketball, which is very popular right now.
There are many people who want to own a ball but do not know where to begin.

In general, basketballs are made of skin, middle tire, wrapping yarn, inner bladder, and valve. A good basketball feels good when slapped, and it is very helpful when shooting. I will discuss how to pick a good basketball based on my own experience.

How to Buy a Good Basketball?

Basketball balls are the most basic prop in basketball sports, and the better the ball is, the easier it is to shoot, play, and have fun with.

Basketball Structure

Bladder: It is the innermost layer of the basketball and is made of rubber. Windings: For mid-to-high-end basketballs, a strip of special nylon silk, forms a protective layer similar to a cocoon around the bladder. Low-end basketballs often do not use nylon silk, but use gauze instead.

Middle tire: It is made of rubber, which supports the liner against the covering;

Covering: The outside covering can be divided into three main categories: rubber, synthetic leather (superfine fiber, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, etc. ), and leather.

Valve: The “throat” of the basketball’s inflation, which is crucial to air tightness.

Basketball Safety Tips and Precautions

In basketball, there is a risk of “bones and joints” injuries, which means that young people whose bones have not yet hardened are most likely to experience knee edema when the knee is vigorously stimulated. Prevention methods include doing exercises that stimulate the knee vigorously, such as full knee bending, rabbit jumping, etc. but don’t do them too frequently.

1. Ankle sprain: Wrap the ankle with adhesive tape (span plaster, bandage) before practicing to prevent sprains. However, the most effective method is still to prepare the ankle to kick the ball on the side of the foot, and at the same time strengthen the muscles that should not be used. If a sprain occurs, apply cold compresses to the affected area and apply appropriate pressure. When applying cold compresses, use only ice water. Place a sponge on top of the sponge, then wrap it in a bandage.

2. Finger stab injuries are caused by strong impacts on the fingers.
Prevention method: completely prepare the finger movements. Finger slaughter can be divided into five categories based on degrees: A. sprains; B. dislocations; C. fractures; D. tendon ruptures; E. contusions (skin splits).

Methods for prevention: Rub the muscles of different parts of the body to relax them before practice, especially those with hard muscles, and pay particular attention during the summer and winter.

You can wrap the waist belt in advance to give the waist support when shooting. Be careful not to make the movement too large, as the impact on the waist will be great.

Keep your waist comfortable by doing more movements that don’t hurt it. Whenever you feel that a particular movement or posture makes your back pain worse, stop it immediately. Most people exercise in ways that are not in accordance with their physiology, such as leg presses, especially when they have a large range of motion.

Basektball Maintenance

1. Dry in the shade after use on rainy days.

2. Store the ball in a dry, ventilated place away from direct sunlight.

3. The ball needs to rest sometimes, just like an athlete. Use more than two basketballs alternately to prolong the life of your balls.

Tip for buying the basketball

1. Try touching the basketball’s surface.

It is easier to let go of the ball when the basketball surface is very smooth. On the other hand, if the surface is rough, the basketball feels nice when slapped.

2. Measure the weight of the basketball.

Generally speaking, a good basketball is a little heavier, but does not feel heavy in the hand; a poor basketball is a little lighter, but feels light when it is shot. Therefore, when you buy the same basketball, you should choose the heavier one.

3. Check out how the basketball is made and sealed.

As a consumable item, the glue on the basketball can easily be opened after a long time of play. A good basketball stitching is well-crafted and well-sealed. It will not open up and peel off after a long time. Even if the basketball of poor quality is new, you can see the gap in the interface, so you can’t buy it.

4. Check out the basketball’s material

Different materials are suitable for different venues and use habits. PU basketballs are beautiful and easy to clean, but they are not wear-resistant, so they are suitable for indoor wooden courts; leather basketballs are durable and suitable for all types of venues.

5. Check out the bounce of the basketball

You can drop a basketball from 180 cm above the ground. If the rebound of the basketball reaches between 120 cm and 140 cm, that indicates a good basketball. If the rebound reaches less than 1 meter, that indicates a poor basketball.

6. Take a close look at the basketball sign and barcode.

Make sure the number on the basketball certificate matches the barcode on the ball. Many low-quality basketball certificates are forged and do not match the barcode on the ball.

7. Make sure the basketball valve does not leak air.

In some inferior basketball balls, the basketball valves are not well sealed, and there is slight air leakage. You can check the basketball valve in water to see if there are bubbles. You shouldn’t buy such a basketball.
